Machine Check-List

Before you call for service:

Save yourself time and money by following these simple steps before calling for a repair.

In no particular order:

  1. Make sure your bobbin is wound properly.
  2. Make sure your bobbin is in correctly. Bobbins ONLY go in one way,
  3. Change your needle.
  4. Rethread your machine.
  5. Make sure your thread is threaded correctly.
  6. Is your bobbin securely in place.

Any one of these fixes can resolve most machine issues without calling for service. You are strongly urged to consult your manual or google online for more information about your specific machine.

When your thread bunches underneath: refer the steps above to correct. Its most likely that your bobbin isn't in correctly.  If the problem persists, then it is likely that some other factor is causing the problem and will need to be looked at by a machine tech.

When to call for service:

  1. When your machine hasn't been cleaned in more than 2 years with continuous use.
  2. When your machine is making a funny sound.
  3. When your upper thread won't pick up your bobbin thread.
  4. When your take up or hand wheel are very hard to turn or sluggish.
  5. When the dog chews on your cord. (happens a lot).

Important Information:

Service Techs cannot service machines bought elsewhere that are still under warranty. You need to return to that dealer for service.

We don't stock every part for every machine. So you might wait awhile to get your machine back if you need a part that isn't commonly stocked.

Old machine parts wear out. Many of these parts are not available anymore.

Its not uncommon for machines to keep breaking - wear and age are the problem. Machine techs do their best to send you a working machine, but ONLY service what the initial problem was when you brought it in. Your warranty doesn't include anything other than the parts we have serviced.
